Paper mask story |
To create a mask, workers must stick 5 - 6 layers of glued paper into the inner area of a mould. Then, they take off the glued paper and let it dry for one day to get the germ of the mask. Next, workers paint the mask and when they paint each of color, they must dry it before they paint the next one. They keep repainting the colors 5 – 6 times to make beautiful mask.
Workers always create paper masks based on traditional characters such as Tam Cam, Thach Sanh, Son Tinh – Thuy Tinh, Mr. Dia, Thi No – Chi Pheo, Ton Ngo Khong, Tru Bat Gioi, etc... so children feel close and familiar. All paper masks are handmade so they deliver the message of difference and uniqueness in life. Not only that, this is a way that workers transmit their love of children, their love of traditional culture to the next generations.
